Do you read Russian?

If you can read Russian, you are in luck. Here is a link (which can also be found in 'Links I Love') to a Russian crochet forum with lovely crochet toys and dolls. One of the members graciously translated the Free Spirit pattern to Russian and posted it on the forum.

Enjoy the crochet!

  2. it is very nice, i was surprised that they asked your permission!! it is very good. most of the Russian forums have translation without authors permission.

  4. I can't read Russian, so I didn't go to the link, but I have to say that I think you are absolutely genius with your patterns! I have to make a Free Spirit doll, using the bigger pattern but a small thread and hook, like that other person did; I can't wait to finish it and make some clothes! I am SOOO excited by your patterns! Thank you for making them!!

  6. You're welcome, but please call me Kat or Katherine. And do you mean 'holidays', or did you intend to write 'holy days'? I'm not criticizing, just asking! Oh, and do you know a nice cheap way of getting safety eyes in southern Ontario? Because I can't make a Free Spirit Mini Doll unless I have them, and I can't embroider on crocheted material very well.

  7. I just tried your Basic Edwardian Dress link, but it didn't work! It said 'Attachment Error. We're sorry, but we were unable to locate the attachment you requested.' Do you know why?

  8. Never mind, it works now.

  9. Hi Katherine,

Actually, I did intend to write Holy Days. I think we lose site of the original intention with the word holidays. This time of the year is sacred to many different traditions, not just Christianity.

I cannot get safety eyes here in Indiana either, unless I mail order them. All I find in the local stores are those google eyes...no thanks. I order eyes from CR's Crafts and from a tackle outfitter in Southern Indiana (not anywhere near me). Both of these sources are in 'Links I Love,' so you might give them a try.

    And Merry Christmas :-)

    Beth

P.S. Whew, glad the link to the dresses still works...I haven't done anything (that I know of) to break it :-)

  10. Hello! I wanted to know, are you Russian? Also, if you ever have time on your hands, can you make an image tutorial of you making a free spirit doll? Thanks. You have a great site, thanks for offering all these patterns free!

  11. Hi katerina,

No, I am not Russian :-)

And, there is a tutorial for making the Free Spirit doll on my flickr site. If you look on the left hand side of this blog page you will see a category called 'Tutorials;' one of them is 'Free Spirit Dollmaking Tutorial.' This is a picture tutorial for making the Free Spirit doll

    Hope this helps!

  12. I have seen this one, but I don't think I remembered at the time I posted the comment. I am sorry! Thank you anyways for a fast reply :) And yes, the tutorial helped.

Another request is: where can I find the abbrev. codes for the paterns? I am a new crocheter (sp?) and I don't know the meanings on sc and ch.

  13. Hi Katerina,

Here is a site I found from a google search that lists crochet abbreviations for US crochet terms (which is what I used in my patterns):

    http://www.needlepointers.com/displaypage.aspx?ArticleID=29065&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.karpstyles.com%2fcrochet%2fcrochet-abbreviations.html

Copy and paste this into your browser, and you should see a page of abbreviations and what they stand for.

Hope this is helpful for you :-)

  14. Hi Beth,
Yes, I know it is not just a Christian time: I'm not Christian. I call it Yule.
And I think I know a Canadian site that I can use to order eyes: Disco Joints and Teddies. I was just wondering if you knew of any others. I foolishly forgot that you were not Canadian. Sorry!
    Thanks.
