Embyr, a Fire Elf

Embyr is a fire Elf, based on the dolls from Fiona McDonald's 'Knitted Fairies' book.  This is a wonderful doll form, and has been great fun creating my own special Elves.

Fiona has two other books, so I will crack the pages of a new book and see what new creation emerges :-)

  1. Love your fairy Beth...did you see the e-mail I sent you with an address for the blog with the little crocheted mice? Some of the outfits remind me of the clothing you have made.

  8. Each elf is so amazing that i can't decide which is my farvorite. lol You have really mastered knitting these lovely dolls. i love her outfit and hair. Her skin tone in so lovely and her dress matches it perfectly. Could you please let me know how you increased the arms to make them bigger to fit a pipe cleaner in them. i would love to make mine with movable arms. the pattern is worked from the hand up so i'm just wondering how you did the increase. thanks! :) i can't wait to see what other dolls you come up with from Fiona's other books. My Gothic Knits book just came in and i'm picking it up tomorrow. i can't wait to see the dolls in it.:) ~Anne~

  10. Thank you Anita and Umulia, for your good words :-)

    Thank you, RocketKnit!

Anne, all I did for the arms was increase from six stitches to eight. Then, I wrapped a length of pipe cleaner with double sided tape and tightly wrapped some fiberfill around this. I place the pipe cleaner inside the arm before stitching, then stitched the arm up with the wrapped pipecleaner encased inside. Oh, I also didn't make the thumbs :-)

    Hope this helps,

    Beth

  14. Hi Beth...my laptop has been out of commission...I had to get the motherboard replaced twice.

Wow Beth waiting was worth the wait to come back and view all your new creations I so love all the new doll knits you've created...they are so sophisticated and lady like.

I made a new version using your mini free spirit doll pattern and created a 5" crochet doll miniature dollhouse size using cotton crochet thread size 10 and some clothes and felt clothes. I was wondering may I put the pdf pattern up for others to make on my blog? I will send you the pdf first so you can see it...it's not quite finished yet because I haven't made the tutorial for the felt clothes yet. Let me know what you think.
