Lavender

Lavender is the second doll I've made from the wonderful (and free!) Yun Shu pattern, available on Ravelry.  She is just eight inches tall, and has lovely lavender hair (Knit Picks Wool of the Andes sport in Sprinkle Heather).  Her body is worked in Red Heart Super Sport; I don't know if they still make this yarn...I've had this in my stash for a couple of decades.

Her dress is a size 3/sport crochet cotton, and her eyes were crocheted from this wonderful tutorial:

Crochet Eyes

Lavender loves all things purple.  Sadly, all of my lavender has died out over the years, but we found lilacs, violets, and bugle weed.  We will replant some lavender this spring, for sure!

  1. Oh she is just beautiful Beth. Your dolls are always so full of charm and beauty. The flowers are lovely as well I can just imagine the scent of that lilac.

    1. Thank you, Lorraine! Our lilacs were hurt somewhat by freezing temperature a few days ago, but the ones that survived look, and smell, heavenly :-)

      warmly,

      Beth

  9. My dear, thank you for the kind words! I think it would be a LOT harder to make these eyes with a plyed thread, like embroidery floss. I suspect you used this instead of perle cotton 'cuz you didn't have any perle. I agree it is harder to make the eyes this size, but a single ply of size 8 perle would be marginally easier.

You could also paint eyes on fabric backed with fusible interfacing...this works quite well, or try embroidering right on the doll. This is a skill I do not have :-(

    warmly,

    Beth
