Senator
Donnelly, Senator Young, Congressman Carson,
I
am appalled, and morally outraged, at the treatment of immigrant
families on our southern border, by the government of the United
States of America. Have you, have we, forgotten that we are a nation
of immigrants?
Ripping
children from their parents, placing them in cages with nothing but a
blanket. No toy or joy or comfort for their fears. This is the
grossest of child abuse, and would be prosecuted as such in the
United States of America, if the child were 'one of us.'
This
administration is filled with men who are fond of quoting the Bible
to justify their actions. Let us look at quotations that would be
better guides to our behavior:
“And
you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
The second is this:‘You shall love your
neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than
these.”
Mark
12:30-32
“This
is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
John 15:12
I have always been proud to be an American; until now. I am ashamed; we should all be ashamed. We have become a nation of Christians in name only. Christ would weep at what we have become.
YOU
must work to stop this. NOW.
Es realmente triste lo que está pasando.
ReplyDeleteEs desgarrador que sea mi país el que perpetúa este crimen contra los niños y las familias.
Delete:(
ReplyDeleteToo many bad things are happening all over the world right now....
If only there were more people kind and loving like you dear Beth!! You bring joy and confort and love through everything you do.
Hugs :*
I hesitated to post this here, since I try to be very positive on this site, but I just could not get the sobs of children being taken from their parents out of my mind. Thus, this post.
DeleteThank you for eloquently expressing the way I feel. I hope our Congress men and women take heart and do something to stop this abhorrent treatment of innocents.
ReplyDeleteWrite to them and let them know you are outraged by this. So many voices will surely by heard by the tone deaf in Washington.
DeleteI totally agree with yoU and it is not just Men that are implementing this outrageous conduct, but women too. The golden rule went out the window. All of these children, who may never even be with their families again, are going to be traumatized now for years. It is tragic and an atrocity!!! THANK YOU for stating my position as well with such clarity. from Iowa
ReplyDeleteThank you, Melody. Write your congressmen! These children have no voice but their sobs; we must speak for them and get our congressmen off their asses and stop this.
DeleteI agree with you Beth...I also love the doll..which pattern is she from???
ReplyDeleteThank you, Christi, and the doll pattern is a wonderful, free pattern on Ravelry called Yun Shu. I've made several dolls from it. Here is a link:

Thank you for your reply back.
ReplyDeleteI believe the powers that be have forgotten or failed to realize that our immigration laws can be enforced without losing our humanity and compassion. To many, it is an either/or situation. 😢
ReplyDeleteI agree, Jeannie. To lose our compassion is to lose our humanity. The people at the border may indeed be breaking our immigration laws, but many are fleeing for their lives, and not all are drug dealing criminals. We must take the time to distinguish those in need, and help them.
DeleteThank you for your comment.
warmly,
Beth
Beth, dolls have a history of being used for activism, especially in America with the tipsy turvy doll and the smuggler dolls in the civil war. It’s fantastic to see you carry on that tradition.
ReplyDeleteThe knitters and crocheters in the UK stand with you, no one can be silent when we watch what’s going on.
Much love.
Thank you so very much for your good words and support. And congratulations again on your accomplishments through University! Well done!
Deletewarmly,
Beth
