Primrose joins the Lily Gang :-)

If you think these dolls are fun to make, you're right!  They will make delightful Christmas gifts for the little girls on my list.  Primrose is the latest of the Lily Gang, with her move-able head and nifty knee joints.  Tutorials for both of these techniques are on the blog; look for 'Tutorials,' and 'Tutorials by Joyce.'  The basic doll pattern can be found on the Lily Sugar&Cream website:

Enjoy the crochet!

  7. I love it! What yarn did you use for her skin? Is it cotton too?

  8. Hi Heather,

For the doll bodies, I used Vanna's Choice in beige. It works up a bit smaller, and the stitches are tighter, than the Sugar&Cream. I used a size E hook with the Vanna's Choice, and a size F hook for the clothing (which is Sugar&Cream).

  9. Anoyher lovely, inspiring doll! They are all so cute. But it seems to me that the Lily pattern doll is the same as your own amigurumi pattern doll. What is the difference? I made two of your dolls, but not yet the Lily doll. There are several patterns on the sugarandcream site. Hartelijke groeten, Beerta.

  10. Hi Beth,
Wondering if you make the shoes seperate or a part of the leg of the doll? Got my sweater realy to put together, now time to create some dolls.

  11. Hi Beerta, the Lily doll is larger than my basic ami doll, and there are other differences. I constructed the Lily doll the way I construct a lot of my dolls, so my doll does differ from the Lily pattern. But, the Lily pattern was the starting point for this doll.

Hi Connie, I made the shoes separate, but you can make the shoes as part of the leg if you wish.

Thank you both for your kind words :-)

  12. Hi Beth... This may seem random, but have you, or any relatives of yours sold dolls at a craft bizarre in Muncie, Indiana, specifically at High Street United Methodist Church? If so, I purchased one of your dolls a few years ago and would like to do so again. If this is not you, would you kindly let me know that as well. Thanks so much.

  14. Hi Lauren! Yes, those are my dolls at the High Street Bazaar! High Street Methodist was my church when I was a teenager, and my folks and several other relatives are still members. I enjoy donating dolls to their Christmas bazaar; every year it is generally something different. I will be donating dolls again this year :-)

Hi Charlotte, thank you for the kindly words :-) Keeping cool this summer is a tall order!

    1. I purchased a beautiful doll named Kenya... Do you think you will have some similar to that one? Do you have any for purchase now? If not, I will definitely be going to the Bizarre come Christmas... We got the Kenya doll for our now 3 year old on her first birthday. My second daughter will be one in September... We'd love to carry on the tradition... but if there's no way to get one sooner, she can certainly get it for Christmas! Thanks for getting back with me.
