The perfect weekend.

We had a nearly perfect Spring weekend, and we tried to make the most of it :-)

Saturday my sister and I went to our favorite nursery (more on that later) and Sunday Larry and I drove south a few miles to a county park, were we rode our bikes to our hearts content, free of traffic and crowds.

This park shares space with a National Guard Training center, and in WWII was also a POW camp.   In 1942 Italian prisoners of war petitioned to build a chapel here, and thus the 'Chapel in the Meadow' above.  It fell into disrepair after the last German prisoners left in 1946, but was partially restored in 1953 and 1963.  It was fully restored in 1989.

The interior, which is not accessible, has painted images of Mary and other holy artwork.  It is as precious in this remote location as a perfect pearl in the sand.
I took along Ruthie, my latest Forget-Me-Knot, and she had a great time as well;  and when we got back, she even helped me plant the flowers my sister and I picked up the day before :-)

  2. Hello Beth,
    How are you doing?
My name is Erika and I'm living in the Netherlands.
I came by this blog today and thought I had seen it before, but couldn't found it anymore. :(
Now I found it again and directly put it in my favorites!
Wow, you're a great designer. I've never seen such crocheted dolls like yours anywhere.
Love to make the forget me knot doll soon. So beautiful!
Here in Holland, there aren't any doll patterns as far as I know.
I loved to email you, but couldn't find a link, so that's why I tell you this way.
Since the 1th of september 2011 I have my own shop with handicraftitems and fair trade.
    I've two questions for you.
I do also sell 'all ready made' softies and interior items at a corner of my shop. some what I call ‘Limited Editions’. That are finished products that I crochet, knit, sew or patchwork from patterns of different designers.
I have permission from them to sell finished products. Of course I label/tag them with a note where to find patterns and who will of course give credit to the designer.
My question is: May I have also your permission to sell finished products made from your patterns? Because I like to sew, crochet and knitting ánd I have some more permissions, your pattern will made only a couple of times per year.

My other question is the next: because I love your dolls, I think there are many dutch people who love them.
I know that many people don't understand the english lexicon of crochet and knitting. That's my experience here in my shop. I had some beautiful english books, but I still have them! :( People love the pictures and patterns, but don't understand the specific lexicon. It's a pity.
So my next question is: May I have your permission to translate your patterns in dutch and put them (of course for free) on my website. Of course I give you the credit and put a link tot your website on it.
Many thanks for reading this long story. You may also email me if you'll have question(s): stitchee.com(a)gmail.com

    Hope to hear from you.

Have a good and crafty week.
    Good luck with designing.

    Warm regards,
    Erika de Niet

    1. Hello Erika,

Thank you for your kind words :-) Yes, you may sell dolls made from my patterns, with acknowledgement that I am the designer; and yes, you may translate the patterns into Dutch, with a link back to this blog. It makes me very happy to have these patterns all over the world :-)

I look forward to seeing the dolls you make from these patterns. Happy crochet!

      In friendship,

      Beth

    2. Wow Beth, thanks a lot!
      Beautiful, beautiful.
I'll start tomorrow directly. :D Yippee, great!

When I finished I I'll show her to you, but I think it will take a couple weeks, while on 30th of april we'll get the crowning of our new King Alexander.

      I'll keep in touch.

      Best wishes,
      Erika
